Hunter Expectations

You can expect to be treated well, hunted hard, eat so well you gain weight, warm comfortable bed, excellent hunting equipment, experienced, honest, hard working staff, and a feeling of camaraderie amongst the camp. For those hunting in the San Angelo area, you will see lots of game, sometimes as many as 25 different whitetail bucks a day or more. Quality bucks are 5 1/2 years of age and older and have 9 to 15 points with spreads from 15-24", with our widest inside spread buck 26 7/8". Most of these bucks will score from 130 to 150 B&C, with exceptional bucks scoring in the upper 160's. Management bucks have up to 8 points and are 4 1/2 and older. Hunters may also hunt for feral hogs, predators, javelina, exotics, and free-ranging Aoudad sheep on a trophy fee basis. We expect our hunters to be honest, safe with firearms at all times, have a positive mental outlook, willing to hunt hard, spend as much time in the field as necessary, a good marksman, and to treat our staff how they wish to be treated in return.

Special Equipment

Recommended equipment are scoped rifles sighted in for dead-on at 200 yards of 25-06 caliber or larger shooting 120 grain bullets or heavier (NO NOSLER BALLISTIC TIP BULLETS PLEASE!) Most shots average 100 yards. High quality binoculars, scope covers, flashlight, face mask, full camouflage, rain gear, camo gloves, quiet walking boots, ice chest, camera, and hunting license.

Also, feral hogs, javelinas, and nighttime predator calling hunts may be available for an additional fee. Trophy whitetail bucks, management bucks, and or surplus antlerless deer may be harvested based upon availability for a trophy fee.

Travel Tips

Hunters should consider securing their airline tickets at least 6 weeks in advance of their travel dates. Hunters driving to the Lodge should arrive the afternoon before the first day of their scheduled hunt between the hours of 12:00 - 4:00 p.m., and plan to depart the morning following the end of their hunt. Hunters flying into the San Angelo, TX airport between 10:00 am - 4:00 pm will be provided free airport transfers to the Lodge. Hunters may obtain their hunting license in advance through the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department or directly through Magnum Guide Service, LLC. We are a licensed vendor for the State of Texas. Hunters should consider traveling with a soft wheeled duffle bag and a locking gun case. Carry on items may be transported in a backpack which will come in handy when shuffling your gear from the Lodge to our vehicles. Hunters may have their meat processed or donated to a charitable organization. Also, Hunters may have their trophies mounted by a local taxidermist or shipped back home to their taxidermist of choice.

Jim & Melony, I had the best time of my life. This was truly a hunt of a lifetime. The Jones lodge was first class from the guides (J.P., Riley, and Roy) to the great cooks (Mary-Ann and Vicki) of course the deer, oh my goodness the deer. I saw many deer I could have shot, but held out for the 145-class 8-point I got. Thanks for the great memories and wonderful time I had. I can't wait to come back. Mike Sloan, Fl.

"Thanks Jim and Melony, and James.  For anyone interested in Trophy whitetail deer hunting, Magnum Guide Service is the booking to make.  The trophy management practices you are using on the ranches are working very well.  I have never seen quality bucks in such large numbers anywhere else I have hunted.  I would gladly recommend your services to anyone so please give my phone # to any potential client that wants to talk to a satisfied past and future customer.  Thanks again for the, "Ninth inning nine pointer".  He will be a favorite memory of mine for the rest of my life."
R. Cash, GA
